The Maid of Honor’s duties

  1. Go along to shop for the bridesmaids’ dresses and accessories.
  2. Pay for your own attire and accessories.
  3. Help address invitations, lick envelopes and put together wedding favours.
  4. Be a part of the planning committee for the bridal shower.
  5. Host the hen night.
  6. Get the bride a bridal shower, bachelorette and wedding gift. You don’t
  7. have to spend a large sum, but something nice for every occasion.
  8. Make sure all the bridesmaids stay in line and focused.
  9. Keep a record of gifts the bride has received so she can send thank you notes at a later date.
  10. Poof, stretch, tuck or pull the bride’s veil and train right before she hands over her bouquet.
  11. Hold the groom’s ring and bride’s bouquet during the ceremony.
  12. Along with the best man, sign the marriage license as a witness.
  13. Toast the happy couple at the reception!
  14. Listen to the bride.
  15. Take care of your own transportation and lodging for the wedding day and night.

The Best Man

Whether married or not, the best man is supposed to keep the groom in line and not get him in trouble the night before he says, “I do!” The best man may not have as many responsibilities as the maid of honour but he has more jobs than he may think he does!

The Best Man Duties

  1. Host the stag night.
  2. Make sure the groom has everything ready and packed for the wedding day, including everything he needs for the honeymoon.
  3. Bring along a nice wedding gift.
  4. Help the groom arrange out-of-town accommodations for the guests.
  5. Coordinate tux rental pick-ups and if needed, pick up the groom’s attire.
  6. Hold the bride’s ring throughout the ceremony.
  7. Along with the maid of honour, sign the marriage license as a witness.
  8. Toast the happy couple at the reception!
  9. Decorate the getaway car with the other groomsmen.
  10. Take care of your own transportation and lodging for the wedding day and night.
